The single-nave baroque Roman Catholic Church of St. James was built on medieval foundations between 1788 and 1797 according to plans by the Kremnica master builder J. Vogelt. Its furnishings include a high altar, pulpit, baptismal font, a four-part organ, and four 18th-century chandeliers in the Neoclassical style, featuring richly carved wooden decorations. The interior paintings were restored from 2002 through spring 2007.

At the upper end of Tužina stands the baroque Chapel of the Seven Sorrows of Mary, built in 1818. Its baroque altar features carvings, a Pietà sculpture, and two angels from the 18th century. Another distinctive monument is Tužina’s Marian Column. It was erected in 1749 in the late baroque style, stands opposite the church, and is surrounded by an artistically carved marble wall. The column was completely reconstructed by the academic sculptor Dušan Hagara and reconsecrated in 1999.

The second Sunday in September is also of special importance to Tužina: on this day, Hody is celebrated in memory of the consecration of the church.
