Discover Dolné Naštice

Dolné Naštice lies on a gentle slope at an elevation of 205 m. The elevations within the municipality range from 187 to 275 m. This means that the elevation range within the municipality is 88 metres. This gives you a clearly defined landscape setting between the river area, gentle hills, and the town’s cultural points of reference. The municipality is particularly suitable as a destination if you would like to get to know a Slovak local landscape not only through individual sights, but also through its location, transport connections, and local culture of remembrance.

Landscape along the Bebrava

The Bebrava River crosses the municipality of Dolné Naštice over a length of 2.4 km in a north–south direction. Dolné Naštice lies in the Bebrava’s left floodplain and at the same time in a foothill of the Nitra loess hills around Bánovce. These two landscape features give the place its specific geographical character: the Bebrava provides a linear orientation through the municipality, while the loess hills describe the broader setting of the surrounding area.

Chapel, monument and local culture

One of the prominent cultural points of reference is the monument to those who fell in the First World War in front of the church. It commemorates 16 residents of Dolné Naštice who died in the war. This gives the site an explicitly historical connection with the history of the municipality itself, rather than only with a more general national commemoration.

In the direction of Biskupice, the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes is preserved at a road junction. The chapel is a single-nave pseudo-Romanesque building from the second half of the 19th century. The chapel has a semicircular apse and a built-in small tower. If you are interested in smaller religious buildings, this structure provides a precisely identifiable architectural point of reference within the local landscape. A wooden cross has also been preserved by the Bebrava River to this day.

The religious culture of the place is also reflected in its music: the Catholic choir of Dolné Naštice sings at Masses in Dolné Naštice.
