Šurianky can be explored through three distinct features: the protected historic Šuriansky Park behind the manor house, the Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria and the Radošinka observation tower. The tower is located on the boundary of the cadastral areas of Čab, Nové Sady and Šurianky. The significant water-management stream Perkovský potok also runs through the built-up area from north to south. These features help place the town in context through its architectural history and clearly identified landscape features.

Parkland and landscape setting

Šuriansky Park is a protected historic park behind the manor house. Its dendrological diversity comprises 33 tree species, including many non-native species. This gives the park a distinct botanical dimension in addition to its historic character. For travellers interested in historic parks, its protected status, location behind the manor house and range of species offer three different points of interest.

The landscape setting is also clearly defined: Šurianky lies in the Bojnianska pahorkatina subregion of the Nitrianska pahorkatina, within the Podunajská pahorkatina in the Podunajská nížina. This sequence leads from the smaller subregion to larger landscape units. It helps locate the town on a regional map rather than considering it in isolation. Perkovský potok adds another landscape feature to the built-up area: this significant water-management stream runs through it from north to south. The park and stream represent different connections with nature—the historic park with its trees on the one hand, and a watercourse whose direction is clearly described on the other.

Church and historical traces

The Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria brings together an early written record and several building phases. The first documented written mention dates to 1297; this year refers to the record, not the later rebuilding. In 1637, the church was rebuilt on old foundations. Its Baroque form has a single nave, with two side sections added later. For visitors interested in architecture and local history, this provides a sequence of an early written mention, rebuilding and later expansion. Another date is associated with the plague column: it dates from 1773 and was reconstructed in 2002. The two dates refer to different events—its creation and its later reconstruction. Together with the church, it shows that Šurianky’s historical features are not limited to a single building or century.

The Radošinka observation tower

The Radošinka observation tower is 15 metres high and built entirely of wood. It stands on the boundary of the cadastral areas of Čab, Nové Sady and Šurianky. This boundary reference helps pinpoint the tower’s location. It can be reached via an unpaved access road located about 350 metres from a Class III road. Both the construction and the access route are described specifically: the height is 15 metres, while the distance is approximate. If you include Radošinka in your travel plans, you can take the unpaved access road into account; the stated distance describes its location relative to the Class III road.
