Stratená between the Cave, Forest and Havrania skala

Stratená combines experiences in the Slovak Paradise with distinctive cultural and landscape landmarks. The municipality includes the village of Dobšinská Ľadová Jaskyňa, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000. At the same time, forest ecosystems, limestone cliffs, caves and the view from Havrania skala shape the character of the area. The ascent from the settlement of Dobšinská Ľadová Jaskyňa to the cave is about 1 km long, climbs 130 metres and takes approximately 25 minutes. When planning your day, take into account both the approximate route length and the elevation gain.

Another distinctive landscape landmark is Skalná Brána. It is an entrance to the Stratenský kaňon; its remains bear witness to fighting during the Second World War. Nature and history therefore meet at this location. The situation is different in the Tiesňava Valley: the valley near Stratená remains closed until further notice after a landslide damaged the entire footpath, including the safety chains. You should take this restriction into account when choosing your excursion destinations and not replace it with your own route planning.

Cultural and historical highlights

There are also specific points of interest in Stratená beyond its natural landscape. The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Augustine was built in 1909 by Ferdinand Coburg. A notable statue of Mary Magdalene comes from the workshop of Master Paul of Levoča. Together with the memories of the fighting at Skalná Brána, these details give the area a historical dimension that can be combined with nature and cave experiences.
