Turcianske Teplice – Thermal Waters, Culture and Trails

Turcianske Teplice combines thermal waters, leisure pools, culture and an accessible educational trail. The town lies in the Turčianska kotlina basin between the Malá Fatra and Veľká Fatra mountains. This brings together a clearly defined landscape setting and a varied programme for a stay: you can combine water activities, art and historical sites with a route through the surrounding area.

Thermal Waters and Aquapark

According to Slovak Act No. 538/2005, the springs of Turčianske Teplice are classified as medicinal thermal mineral springs. The thermal water contains up to 1,524 mg/l. At the SPA & AQUAPARK, the Folk pool and Red pool are built directly on mineral springs. This area is complemented by a 25 m long outdoor swimming pool with water jets and massage jets, as well as an outdoor leisure pool with hydro-massage loungers, a wild-water river and water jets.

The aquapark’s year-round facilities also include the 47 m long “KAMIKAZE” slide and the 97 m long “ATTRACTION MOVIE” slide. Both slides offer sound, light and visual effects. The modern spa facilities provide hydrotherapy using heat, pressure and gentle water jets. No doctor’s prescription is required for the Bahenný kúpeľ treatment. Another water experience is offered by Termálne kúpalisko Vieska, with a 50 m long swimming pool and a water temperature of 24 to 27 °C.

Art and Historical Sites

The Galéria Mikuláša Galandu displays works by Mikuláš Galanda and hosts exhibitions by Slovak and foreign artists. The artist’s connection also extends into the town’s history: his birthplace, dedicated to the painter, graphic artist and illustrator Mikuláš Galanda, was designated a cultural monument on 13 July 1979 under registration number 3237/1-2.

Other notable cultural sites include the Modrý kúpeľ in Turcianske Teplice, which is classified as a cultural monument, as well as the Renaissance manor house Palatthyovský kaštieľ and the 0.8 ha park in Diviaky. Both are registered under number 539/1-2. Dni mesta also forms part of the town’s cultural identity; the town describes it as a traditional event. When selecting individual sights, it is important to distinguish between designated monument status and actually accessible attractions.

Educational Trail with a Manageable Time Frame

The “Náučný chodník” educational trail can be completed in approximately 2.5 to 3 hours and is considered physically undemanding. It is accessible year-round and can also be cycled. This allows you to add an outdoor stage to your stay without focusing on long or particularly demanding mountain hikes.
