Church, Parish and Local Traditions
The history of Valaská Dubová’s parish goes back to a record from 1332–1337. The present Church of St Michael the Archangel was built after the former church was demolished in 1860 and was consecrated in 1866. Its interior paintings date from 1904 and were created by Jozef Hanula. A Lourdes chapel stands next to the church. It was built to mark the 150th anniversary of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary at Lourdes.
Local historical points of interest also include Jánošíkova krčma. The masonry building was built on the site of an older wooden inn. The distinction between traditional storytelling and documented local history therefore remains part of the visitor experience.
Further Trails and Special Attractions
