Kraľovany between rivers, the Fatra mountains and Stoh

Kraľovany is located in the Ľubochňa breakthrough at the confluence of the Orava and Váh rivers. The village thus combines a distinctive river landscape with the mountain worlds of the Lesser and Greater Fatra. Hike to Stoh

The most prominent documented connection with the mountains leads to Stoh. The summit is 1,607.4 m high, lies on the main ridge of the Kriváň section of the Lesser Fatra and is a grassy summit with panoramic views. In particular, the neighbouring peaks Veľký Rozsutec and Poludňový grúň are part of the described panorama.

A green-marked hiking trail leads from the municipality of Kraľovany to the summit of Stoh. In addition, a hike from Kraľovany railway station via Žobrák to Stoh is described; it then returns via Žobrák to the railway station. This is a clear difference for your choice of location compared with a purely car-based tour: the railway station is not only a transport hub, but is also directly connected with this designated hiking route. Lake, local history and timber rafting

A flooded quarry lake is located in the Kraľovany-Rieka district. The quarry is used for recreational purposes and provides a different accent from the mountain hike to Stoh. Kraľovany also has a long documented history. The oldest surviving mention of the settlement dates from 1363; it refers to a trade route from Sučany via Kraľovany to Ružomberok. Timber rafting is also part of the village's history. It reached its greatest flourishing in Kraľovany and continued until the middle of the 20th century.

A visible cultural landmark is the Evangelical Church of Kraľovany. It was built between 1912 and 1913 and consecrated on 19 October 1913. It thus complements the nature and hiking themes with a specific building whose history of construction is precisely dated.
