Ivanka pri Dunaji combines the landscape of the western Danube Lowland with distinctive cultural monuments and various opportunities for active days. The town lies on a low river terrace between the branches of the Little Danube. Those looking for a lesser-known cultural and experiential destination for a trip to Slovakia will find historical architecture, events, horse-riding opportunities and designated cycling connections here, presented in a manageable thematic selection.

Manor House, Church and Historical Traces

One of the defining sights is the manor house of Ivanka pri Dunaji. It was built in the Rococo style in the third quarter of the 18th century for the Grassalkovich family and was originally surrounded by an extensive French park. Thus, the focus is not only on the building itself, but also on the historical design of its surroundings.

Another cultural landmark is the Baroque Church of Saint John the Baptist. It dates from 1770 to 1772. In front of the church stand Baroque-Classical statues of Saint Donatus and Saint Florian. They probably originally lined the former road between the manor houses of Ivanka pri Dunaji and Bernolákovo, which was called “Cesta lásky”. Visitors interested in sacred architecture, statues and local history can therefore gain several perspectives on the development of the town.

Activities and Events

The park grounds next to the manor house are also associated with a traditional celebration: a celebration including Holy Mass is held there for the Feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. In addition, the Centre for Spirituality in Ivanka pri Dunaji organises lectures, concerts and recitations for the general public. These cultural offerings complement the historical focus with spiritual and artistic topics.

The Inspiro Park of Rest is located at 36 Nádražná Street, directly next to Ivanka pri Dunaji railway station, and offers movement, creative and educational activities for all age groups. Those who prefer horses can consider the riding school of the Ivanka pri Dunaji Equestrian Club. Riding lessons on school horses are offered there under the guidance of a trainer. Since August 2024, the equestrian club has operated at a new riding facility on Ružová Street in Ivanka pri Dunaji.

Seasonal and themed experiences are also part of the townscape. The traditional “Jablkové hodovanie” takes place on the first Saturday in October and includes a market with handmade products. The “Za Štefánikom po Ivanke” event uses five stations connected with Štefánik and has already been held for the fifth time. It therefore offers a distinct experience for visitors who want to learn about local history in an event-based format.

Cycling as an Additional Travel Aspect

Ivanka pri Dunaji can also be incorporated into regional cycling plans. Cycling route 5007 from Senec to the M. R. Štefánik Mound passes through Ivanka pri Dunaji. In addition, a cycling route called “Ivanka – M. R. Štefánik Mound” is designated and listed with a length of 1.7 km. Since the information uses different route names, you should consider them separately when planning your own day trip.
