Most pri Bratislave: Lakes, Riparian Forests and Cultural Heritage
Most pri Bratislave: A Waterscape and Cultural Heritage
Most pri Bratislave combines a variety of travel experiences: Zelená voda and Zelené jazerá offer fishing, hiking and, in some cases, recreation and sports, while along the Malý Dunaj, remnants of riparian forests and the Blatina canal shape the landscape. Churches, memorials, a manor house and a 12.1 km road cycling route add to the character of the area. When choosing accommodation in Most pri Bratislave, you can weigh up nature experiences by the water, cycling and cultural and historical attractions within the municipality.
Zelená voda, Zelené jazerá and the Malý Dunaj
Zelená voda is a lake created by gravel extraction and surrounded by rare riparian forests. The lake is used for fishing and hiking and is primarily a fishing area. There is no lifeguard at Zelená voda; swimming is at your own risk. This clearly distinguishes the site from a facility focused exclusively on swimming.
The three lakes of Zelené jazerá were formed from former gravel extraction sites left behind after the regulation of the Malý Dunaj. Together, they cover 17.6 hectares. All three lakes are fishing waters, and two are also used for recreation and sports. Along the Malý Dunaj, within the municipality of Most pri Bratislave, there are remnants of riparian forests that create secluded natural spots. The Blatina canal flows into the Malý Dunaj within the municipality and is considered a paradise for anglers.
Churches and Monuments
One focus of the cultural heritage is the Kostol Najsvätejšieho Srdca Ježišovho church. It preserves damaged Gothic frescoes and a stone baptismal font from the 14th century, which is still used in the new church. The church may also preserve a presbytery from a 13th-century chapel that was expanded in the Early Gothic style around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. Unusually rare stone ciboria are another feature. The church is listed under reference ÚZPF 494/0.
At the Kostol Božského Srdca Ježišovho church, stone canopies have been preserved that, to this day, survive only in Most pri Bratislave in Slovakia. The Božia muka wayside shrine near the agricultural cooperative was built around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries in the Classicist style. A monument to the victims of the First World War in the church garden also commemorates 43 people.
The monument to Milan Rastislav Štefánik in Most pri Bratislave is listed as a national cultural monument under reference 2080/1. The memorial to Milan Rastislav Štefánik was erected in 1923 at the site of the plane crash; its architect was Dušan Jurkovič. The two pieces of information highlight different historical aspects associated with the same name: the monument's legal heritage classification and the creation of the memorial.
Studené and Getting Around by Bicycle
Next to the manor house in the settlement of Studené, a remnant of a natural park from the first half of the 19th century has been preserved. The manor house was probably built in the 17th century by the Hideghétiovci family as a single-storey Renaissance building. It may originally have been a monastery, which Ján Balassa had converted into a Classicist manor house and extended upwards at the beginning of the 19th century.
For cyclists, the 12.1 km Vrakuňa–Most pri Bratislave–Malinovo–Tomášov road cycling route runs through Most pri Bratislave. There is also a cycling connection between Most pri Bratislave and the Studené district. For further orientation in the area, you can access the directly associated destinations Tomášov, Hamuliakovo, Miloslavov, Zálesie, Kaplna, Ivanka Pri Dunaji, Malinovo and Bernolákovo.
