Rakovice: Manor House, Park and Sacred Architecture

Rakovice combines a clearly recognizable landscape setting with manor house history, sacred architecture and an active attraction.

Landscape between the Dudváh and the Loess Hills

Rakovice is located on a terrace of the Dudváh River. At the same time, the village lies in the northern part of the Trnava Loess Hills, at the transition to the Váh extension of the Danubian Lowland. This geographical setting gives Rakovice its own distinct landscape framework: the scenery is shaped not by a single major destination, but by the interplay of the river terrace, the hills and the transition to the lowland.

Rakovice is located on Road II/504 between the towns of Vrbové and Trnava.

Manor House and Dendrological Park

The manor house in Rakovice was originally a Renaissance building from the 17th century. In 1856, it was remodeled in the Classicist style. The building thus illustrates a historical development in which an older Renaissance structure acquired a later Classicist form.

The English dendrological park was also established at the manor house in 1856. It features a species-rich planting scheme. The term dendrological refers to its particular focus on woody plants. The park also includes a triple Classicist gate at the entrance; behind this gate stands a statue of Saint Florian. The manor house, gate, statue and park therefore provide several distinct points of reference for exploring the history of the village.

Church and Small Cultural Monuments

The Church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius is a modern work of sacred architecture dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius. Its floor plan has the shape of a Byzantine cross with a polygonal ending. A statue of Saints Cyril and Methodius stands at the turnoff to the church. This ensemble is complemented by Rakovice’s masonry bell tower, whose square floor plan probably dates from the late 18th century.

The local culture of remembrance is also part of Rakovice’s character. On July 8, 2025, believers in Rakovice commemorated the 20th anniversary of the consecration of the Church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius. The feast of the church in Rakovice, known as Hody, generally takes place on the anniversary of the consecration of the local church. This gives you a cultural connection that combines the building, religious tradition and recurring feast day, without interpreting the past date as a current event promise.

Disc Golf and Local Experiences

In addition to its historical and sacred points of interest, Rakovice also offers an active option: the grounds of SOÅ  Rakovice include a permanent disc golf course in the park. The course is freely accessible and suitable for players of all experience levels. This means the attraction is intended not only for people who are already familiar with disc golf, but explicitly also for people with different levels of experience. The combination of a park and a permanent course creates a different focus from exploring the manor house, church and bell tower.
