Trenčianske Stankovce – Bell Towers, Cycling and Culture

Trenčianske Stankovce presents itself as a destination with a clear connection to cycling and several named cultural traces. The Vážska cyklomagistrála runs through the village. Historic bell towers, references to former mills, park features and regional events also give the village a cultural and historical dimension.

Bell towers and historic traces

In Veľké Stankovce stands a brick bell tower of the tower type dating from 1859. In Rozvadze there is a late-Classical bell tower dating from 1867. It is accompanied by a stone sculpture and a Classical bell. In Sedličná stands a brick Classical bell tower of the tower type, built in the second half of the 18th century. The bell tower in Sedličná was also renovated in 1937. Further references lead into the history of the named areas. In former Veľké Stankovce, five mills were in operation, also supplying the surrounding municipalities. An unusual notched radiolarite point was found near Zadné kopanice in the cadastral territory of Veľké Stankovce. A wooden cross in the cadastral territory of Rozvadze in the direction of Krivosúd–Bodovka is regarded as evidence of historic battles. These places therefore represent different historical layers without needing to be combined into a single architectural ensemble. A park also contributes to the local culture of remembrance. It contains a family crypt and a bust of the cartographer Ján Lipský. The park also contains linden trees that, according to old chronicles from Sedličná, are said to have been planted more than 300 years ago. The attribution to the chronicles is expressly retained. In the area, women developed traditions of embroidery production, meaning that, alongside buildings and historical finds, craft culture is also part of the village's history.

Cycling, routes and nature experiences

For cyclists, the Vážska cyklomagistrála is a specific point of reference, as it runs through Trenčianske Stankovce. In addition, field and farm roads along a watercourse are used by cyclists and runners. The area around the village examined here therefore offers both a named cycle route and paths mentioned in connection with cycling and running. Ponds near Trenčianske Stankovce offer opportunities for sport fishing. Those who focus on hiking will find, in the area surrounding the village, a region in the Považský Inovec Mountains that offers suitable conditions for hiking. The activities available thus range from cycling and running through sport fishing to hiking, without requiring a specific travel itinerary.

Folk culture and recurring events

Zimný festival trenčianskych folklórnych skupín is an annual cultural event presenting folk art, songs and dances by folklore groups from the region around Trenčín. Stankovská zabíjačka has a different focus and takes place regularly in February or March. Together with the traditions of embroidery production, the range of events points to a vibrant regional culture, while the bell towers, mills and historic memorial markers make the village's past visible.
