Trenčianska Turná between the Váh and Mountain Landscapes

Trenčianska Turná lies on the left bank of the middle course of the Váh. Several landscape areas shape its character: the village is surrounded by the landscape of the Strážov Mountains, the mountains of the White Carpathians lie to the west, and Považský Inovec is also part of the landscape around Trenčianska Turná. The village’s history is thus connected with a clearly recognisable setting in which river landscapes and mountain regions stand side by side.

Church, Monument and Local History

An important historical landmark is the Church of St. Martin in Trenčianska Turná. It was originally Gothic and was rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries. There are two crypts inside. The oldest bell also hangs in the church tower; it dates from 1832. The various construction phases and this specific architectural detail make the church a place where the development of the village can be read directly.

Other memorial sites are spread throughout the village. In the “9. líp” park stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1794. A memorial plaque to Samuel Timon is located on the building of the former Roman Catholic school. The school is explicitly documented as a former building; the plaque refers to its historical use and to the person associated with the village.

Hámre is also part of the area’s historical narrative. The battlefield of Hámre also extended into the territory of Trenčianska Turná. The battle took place on 3 August 1708, and a monument in Hámre commemorates this event. Those interested in history therefore encounter not just a single monument here, but several traces that connect the event, landscape and memory.

Museum and Pump Track

The local museum is housed in the cottage on Kušnierovec. This unusual setting distinguishes the museum visit from a presentation in an ordinary museum building and adds a separate exhibition venue to the historical testimonies found in the village.

For an active change of pace, the TJ Slovan sports complex in Trenčianska Turná includes a pump track. It is intended for bikers of all ages and ability levels: the range extends from children on balance bikes and hobby riders to racers. The pump track therefore explicitly caters to different levels of experience rather than being limited to a single group.
