Súlovce combines a diverse landscape with regional cycling connections and a local history dating back to the Middle Ages. The municipality lies at the transition between the Nitrianska sprašová pahorkatina loess hills and the northwestern foothills of the Tribeč Mountains. The landscape comprises open hilly terrain, alluvial fans and areas of oak-hornbeam forests. The Ponitrie Protected Landscape Area also encompasses the municipality of Súlovce.

The Tribeč Mountains extend above Súlovce. Their highest peak is Veľký Tribeč. Cycling connections through the village

The local cycling tourism route 5109 from Oponice to Babova dolina passes through Súlovce. In Babova dolina, route 5109 intersects with the Tribečská hrebeňovka cycling highway (049). This makes it possible to understand the village’s importance within the regional cycling network in concrete terms, without reducing Súlovce to a single route.

Another documented connection is the Topoľčany–Solčany–Oponice–Súlovce cycling route. It runs along paved roads and is suitable for various types of bicycles. When choosing a route, the key distinction is therefore between this paved connection and route 5109, which leads via Babova dolina.

A historically documented winter ascent also demonstrates the connection to Tribeč: during a KST-Žochár winter ascent in 2019, the 21 km route led from Súlovce via Cincilak, Veľký Tribeč, the Vlčica chalet, Pozerák and Kovarský sklad to Solčany. History and local traces

Súlovce was first mentioned in writing in 1244. Historical names of the village include Dubnica (Dubnicza), Súloc (Zúlocz) and Szúlocz. Since the second half of the 19th century, the settlement of Podlužany has been part of the municipality of Súlovce; a mill was built there and still exists today.

Further historical references can be found in the local districts and sacred details. Betlehem, a district of Súlovce, was formerly a sheep farm. The original bells of the church in Súlovce were melted down and replaced with bells from Betlehem. The sights of Súlovce also include historic seals of the village judge. The expression “zasľúbeňí” is also associated with Súlovce and represents an independent linguistic and local reference in the village’s history.
