Kuzmice – Landscape, Cycling Route and Traces of Local History

Kuzmice is located in the northwestern part of the Nitrianska sprašová pahorkatina loess hill country, along the middle course of the Zľavy stream. The Neoclassical manor house of Vítkovce lies approximately 1 kilometer southwest of Kuzmice. It dates from the mid-19th century, is in very good condition and has been extensively reconstructed. Both points of interest are approximately 1 kilometer from Kuzmice; the manor house is located southwest of the village.

The Church of St. Stephen in Vítkovce is an Early Gothic church. A church associated with Vítkovce was probably already built around 920 by students of Cyril and Methodius. Kuzmice also preserves an early Baroque statue from the 17th century. The date around 920 and the Early Gothic church represent different historical periods.

Local Character Between Crafts and Waterway History

Traditional activities are also part of Kuzmice’s inherited image. Beekeeping was historically widespread here. Two watermills once operated on the Zľavský potok.
