Nové Sady – Church, Museum and RADOŠINKA Viewing Tower

Nové Sady combines a clearly described landscape setting with several historical layers. The village stretches along both banks of the Radošinka stream in its middle course. This allows you to explore the surroundings through a variety of stops: churches and cemeteries, a museum with bookable guided tours, historic manor architecture, a recurring ploughing competition and the RADOŠINKA Viewing Tower.

Church History between the Village Centre and the Hilltop

An important historical landmark is the Evangelical Tolerance Church. It was consecrated on 5 October 1786. Its history is also reflected in the surviving brick tower, which was built in 1869. During the comprehensive renovation completed in 1962, the original Tolerance layout, the spacious chancel and the tower were preserved. The church therefore represents several clearly distinguishable construction phases, without its history having to be reduced to a single date.

An older trace leads to the original Gothic Roman Catholic church of Nové Sady. It already stood between 1520 and 1530 on a hill above the municipality. The cemetery of Nové Sady is located here today. Another clearly visible landmark is the statue of Jesus Christ on a hill in front of the Catholic cemetery. It is easily visible from the village centre and connects the central village view with the elevated location of this historic area.

Museum and Living Local Culture

The form of the visit is therefore clearly described as a guided experience. The local culture also includes Novosadská brázda, a recurring ploughing competition in Nové Sady. Tractors and historic machinery are used in the event. The competition complements the historic buildings and places of remembrance with an occasion focused on agricultural machinery and a recurring event. RADOÅ INKA and the Landscape of the Nitrianska pahorkatina

The RADOŠINKA Viewing Tower stands on a ridge of the Nitrianska pahorkatina. The ridge bears the historic name Mraha and lies at the meeting point of the cadastral areas of Čab, Nové Sady and Šurianky. This precise location makes the viewing tower an independent landscape landmark outside the village’s religious and historic sites. The RADOŠINKA Viewing Tower can be reached by car.

Manor House and Jewish Cemetery

The manor house of Nové Sady also points to the village’s long history. It was originally a Renaissance manor house from the early 17th century. It was built on the site of an earlier castle mentioned in 1550. Thus, a later Renaissance building and evidence of an even older history of fortification come together in one place.

The Jewish cemetery commemorates the once significant Jewish community of Nové Sady, which fell victim to the Holocaust during the Second World War. This place therefore forms part of the village’s historical memory and complements the visible buildings with an explicitly historical, rather than contemporary, dimension.
