Malý Cetín combines historical traces with tangible opportunities for culture enthusiasts and cyclists. Anyone planning a trip through Slovakia who would also like to get to know smaller places away from major urban centres will find several points of interest here: a former school building, sacral buildings, an observation tower beside a cycle path, as well as seasonal activities at a former arm of the Nitra. When searching for a hotel or other accommodation, you can therefore consider whether history, cycling or leisure activities should be the focus of your trip.

Historical Traces and Sacral Buildings

Malý Cetín is home to the former one-class elementary school building, which is now the seat of the municipal office. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century. Another historical marker is the chapel of Malý Cetín, which was built in 1965. The Church of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary in Malý Cetín was consecrated in 2008. Together, these buildings represent different periods of the village's history, without requiring you to reduce its development to a single era.

The names of the landscape and the river also reach far back into the past. The Cetínka River has been documented since 1240 under the historical name “Cherhen”. The area formed by the Cetínka was referred to in 1272 as “terra Ceten”, meaning the land of Cetín. Archaeological studies also show that the area between Čechynce, Malý Cetín and Veľký Cetín has been inhabited for at least 3,500 years. A statue of Saint Urban stands in the vineyards of Malý Cetín. This gives you a cultural perspective on a place whose history is visible not only in individual buildings, but also in traditional landscape and river names.

Cycling and Views of the Surrounding Area

Malý Cetín can also be included in a cycling tour. The cycle route from Nitra to Golianovo branches off towards Malý Cetín. The Golianovo observation tower stands on the Nitra–Vráble cycle path at the border between Malý Cetín and Golianovo. The tower is 22 metres high, open year-round and free to visit. If you like to combine your trip with a cycling tour and a fixed viewpoint, this combination provides clear guidance for planning your day. The cycle routes mentioned and the observation tower should be regarded as separate destinations; no specific distances or travel times are associated with them.

Seasonal Leisure Opportunities

The opportunities by the water vary according to the season. In summer, fishing is possible in the former arm of the Nitra near Malý Cetín. In winter, the same former arm can be used for ice skating. In addition, Malý Cetín has a multi-purpose sports field with evening lighting. The municipality organises an Easter table tennis tournament, while the event “obecná fašiangová zabíjačka” is very popular. These examples add seasonal and community activities to the village's cultural and sporting character.

When searching for accommodation, you can therefore assess Malý Cetín according to the purpose of your trip: historical references and sacral buildings appeal to culture enthusiasts, the cycle path and observation tower complement an active day plan, while the former arm offers different opportunities depending on the season. For further orientation, you can also look at Čakajovce, Lúcnica Nad Zitavou, Hruboňovo, Poľný Kesov, Ľudovítová, Báb, Štefanovičová and Lukáčovce.
