Čab lies on the western slopes of the Nitrianska pahorkatina and on both sides of the Radošinka stream. The Slovak municipality combines a landscape perspective, regional culture and notable evidence of local history. For your travel planning, Čab is particularly interesting if you would like to combine nature experiences with smaller cultural discoveries.

Landscape and Views over the Region

A defining landmark is the RADOŠINKA viewing tower. It stands on a ridge of the Nitrianska pahorkatina known by the historic name Mraha. The cadastral areas of Čab, Nové Sady and Šurianky meet at this point; the viewing tower is located at an altitude of 218 m above sea level.

From the tower, the view extends across the Podunajská pahorkatina and to several mountain ranges: Tribeč, Vtáčnik, Strážovské vrchy, Považský Inovec and Malé Karpaty are all part of the panorama, as are the old city of Nitra and nearby Topoľčany. This gives the landscape around Čab a broad geographical setting that vividly illustrates the diverse forms of the West Slovak landscape.

RADOŠINKA is designated as an active tourism and leisure facility for nature lovers, hikers and cyclists. Various forms of hiking and sporting activities are also supported by KST RADOŠINKA. The association's fundamental mission also includes mountain hiking at home and abroad. If you want to place activity and landscape at the heart of your trip to Slovakia, the viewing tower therefore provides a clear thematic focal point.

Monuments and Religious Culture

The Morový stĺp, the oldest monument in Čab, is part of the local history. The Baroque plague column commemorates the 46 people who died during the cholera outbreak of 1773. Today, the Morový stĺp is protected by the Monuments Board. Its significance therefore lies not only in its Baroque form, but also in its remembrance of a specific chapter in the municipality's history.

Another visible historical testament is the new chapel in Čab. It was built in 1889 at a crossroads in a Romanticizing style and executed in the Neo-Gothic style. The chapel is dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius, the Slavic missionaries. Historically, Holy Mass was held there only on feast days and at funerals. The municipality's cultural tradition also includes the “Cyrilometodejské oslavy”, the celebrations of Cyril and Methodius.

A Local Event with a Culinary Character

A special local tradition is Čabský kotlík, a recurring public goulash-cooking competition in Čab. The third edition took place on September 3, 2022, and the seventh edition on September 5, 2026. Both editions were followed by a music program. The event thus represents the sociable side of the municipality and complements the landscape and historical themes with a culinary occasion.

Čab as a Travel Choice

When choosing your accommodation and excursion destinations, you can first decide which aspect is most important to you: the RADOŠINKA viewing tower focuses on landscape, hiking and cycling, while the Morový stĺp and the chapel provide access to the history and religious culture of Čab. Čabský kotlík additionally points to public community life and regional cuisine. This creates a varied picture of the municipality without limiting Čab to just one type of travel.
