Settlement in Tekolďany began in the Neolithic period. A settlement of the Želiezovce culture was located in the area. The village was first mentioned in writing in 1310. Historical forms of the name include Tekulchen, Tukulchen, Tökőld, Tekolgyan, Tekolgyany and Tekolďany. These names make the village’s long history visible without requiring a large museum complex.

Among the notable buildings is the Roman Catholic Church of Panny Márie Ružencovej. It is a single-nave building with a polygonal presbytery. The asymmetrical tower is attached to the side façade of the nave; its design is inspired by Slovak sacral buildings of the 17th century. The church also contains two former altarpieces by the painter J. Zanussi, who came from Trnava. One of them is signed and dated 1804.
