Jalšové between a Hiking Trail and a Cultural Monument

Jalšové combines a clearly designated hiking route with a distinctive landscape setting and a historically significant church building. The marked hiking trail 8147 leads from Jalšové to Ovčia skala and is 3.1 km long. This gives the village a specifically described route whose destination is just as definite as its starting point.

A longer route of this kind was offered in 2026 as part of the JARNÝ POCHOD HP: it covered 13 km from Hlohovec via Ovčia skala to Jalšové. That year, the JARNÝ POCHOD HP reached its 48th edition. For your orientation, this means that not only the individual trail 8147 is of interest, but also the connection between several places and Ovčia skala in an organised hiking format. The annual Jesenný pochod Hlohovec–Piešťany also includes a hiking route starting in Jalšové.

Landscape at the Transition between Uplands and Plain

Jalšové lies at the transition from the southern foothills of the Považský Inovec to the Považská extension of the Danube Plain. This location describes the character of the village more precisely than a general designation as a hiking destination: on one side is the foothill region, while on the other is the transition to the plain. The wooded slopes in Jalšové consist of thermophilous oak-hornbeam stands. Those who pay attention to specific landscape forms when choosing a destination will therefore find both a named topographical transition zone and a defined forest vegetation here.

One of the local natural features is the Teplá studňa thermal spring, also known as Čertové pece. It is identified as a thermal spring in Jalšové; no further information about its use or facilities is implied. The dual name is helpful for orientation because both designations refer to the same local natural feature.

Church on a Hilltop

A second highlight is Kostol sv. Ducha, the Church of the Holy Spirit. The church has a Romanesque rotunda and was built in the first half of the 13th century. Cyclists also have a documented connection to Jalšové: the route of the Bike4you Hlohovec–Poniklec MTB marathon passes through the village. Jalšové is therefore connected both to a marked hiking trail to Ovčia skala and to a named mountain-bike marathon route. The road II/507 passing through Jalšové connects Piešťany with Hlohovec and forms the road connection through the village mentioned in the context examined.
