Lakšárska Nová Ves: Nature Reserves, Trails and Culture
Lakšárska Nová Ves combines protected wetlands, marked trails and a remarkable ecclesiastical history.
Natural Areas and Specially Protected Sites
Almost the entire cadastral area of Lakšárska Nová Ves lies within the CHKO Záhorie Protected Landscape Area. The municipality also contains the NPR Červený rybník National Nature Reserve and the PR Zelienka Nature Reserve. The NPR Červený rybník protects a swamp alder forest of the Carici elongatae-Alnetum association, as well as remnants of a marsh meadow with plant communities of the Caricion fuscae alliance. These terms describe a sensitive habitat whose value derives particularly from the interplay of water, marsh vegetation and forest.
The PR Zelienka is one of the last remaining inter-dune marsh areas. The municipality also includes a 35,953 m² lake with a distinctive natural setting. For planning your stay, this combination means you can choose between trails through protected landscapes, nature observation and time by the lake, without reducing the destination to just one type of experience.
Hiking Trails, Educational Trail and Cycling Route
The Závod–Senica long-distance hiking trail passes through Lakšárska Nová Ves. Another option is a blue-marked hiking trail that follows a forest road from Lakšárska Nová Ves to the Tomky recreation area. The educational trail towards Tomky begins in Lakšárska Nová Ves in the CHKO Záhorie Protected Landscape Area. Along the educational trail, information panels explain selected plant, fungi and animal species.
The route passes by the NPR Červený rybník National Nature Reserve and gradually continues to the Tomky recreation area. This allows you to tailor the outing to your personal interests: the long-distance trail appeals to travellers seeking a longer route beyond the municipality, while the educational trail focuses on nature topics and specific information about species. Those travelling by bicycle can also take into account that the so-called Kopaničiarska cycling route passes through Lakšárska Nová Ves.
A map of the Záhorie Sever cycling route is displayed at the main intersection in the centre. It provides a visible reference for planning routes locally. The wetlands are subject to the highest, fifth level of protection; leaving the trails there is prohibited. This rule is therefore an immediate part of planning any nature outing: in protected areas, stay on the designated trails and plan your route according to the existing markings and information.
Churches, Chapel and Historic Traces
The architectural history of Lakšárska Nová Ves also adds a distinctive feature. The Baroque Church of Saint Lawrence was built in 1729–1730 and has been a protected cultural monument since 1968. A defensive wall with loopholes from the late 17th century stands around the church. It enclosed the first church on the site of today’s ecclesiastical building. Several historical layers therefore meet in this ensemble: the earlier fortification, the Baroque church building and its current protected status.
A Baroque chapel dedicated to Saint Simon and Saint Jude was also built in the centre in 1754. Travellers who do not want to limit their plans exclusively to hiking or cycling can include these ecclesiastical buildings as a cultural focus of their stay. The historic sites complement the landscape experiences with a tranquil, destination-specific perspective.
