Smrdáky combines the tradition of a spa town with an extensive spa park, a signposted cycling route and noteworthy religious buildings. The town’s character is shaped by its medicinal mineral water: It contains 3,400 mg of mineral salts and 680 mg of hydrogen sulfide per liter. The hydrogen-sulfide mineral water is used for therapeutic baths. Sulfur-containing peloids from Smrdáky are also used in the form of packs applied to joints and the spine. Church, Chapels and Local History

The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Martin of Tours dates from 1680 and was extensively renovated in 1928. It houses a rare organ built by Martin Šaško in 1862.

North of and above Smrdáky stands the preserved Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk. It was built in 1831 in a newly established cemetery. Its furnishings include a Baroque wooden altar structure from the first half of the 18th century. The townscape is complemented by the Trinity sculpture, created in 1927. The village square is also home to the ensemble of Saint Florian, Saint Vendelín and Saint Rozália.

The spa’s history also goes back a long way: Baron Joseph Vietoris founded it in 1832–1833. The manor house of the Smrdáky spa, reconstructed and modernized several times, is still in use.
