Churches with Different Building Histories

A distinctive cultural landmark is the Baroque Roman Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist. It dates from 1731 and thus represents the older building history of Marcelová. The Reformed Church has a different architectural character. It was built in 1803 as a Neoclassical Tolerance Church without a tower. A tower was added in 1836, and the building was restored in 1906. This sequence is precisely what makes the building interesting to visitors who want not only to collect individual dates, but also to trace changes in a historic sacred building.

The local cultural landscape also includes the chapel above the “miraculous spring” in the former park of the Pálffy family. The reference to the former park preserves the site's historical context. A distinct cultural facet is the historical archery club Fekete Sólyom, also known as Čierny Sokol. The club has been based in Marcelová since 2006.
