Budimír: Manor House, Clocks and Historic Park

Budimír is located in the Košice Basin in the Torysa Valley, about 12 km from Košice. Manor House and Clock History

The Budimír manor house is a Classicist Theresian building from the second third of the 18th century and served as the seat of the Ujházy family branch. Its cultural profile includes changing smaller exhibitions on the history of technology, history and art. Particularly distinctive is the exhibition of historic clocks: it covers the typological development of clock movements and the artistic design of clock cases from the beginning of the 18th century to the first third of the 20th century. The pieces mentioned include brass wall clocks from 1760 made in the workshop of the Košice clockmaker Lehner, a pocket watch known as the Nuremberg egg from 1630, and French Boulle clocks from 1720. The outdoor area therefore serves as a separate point of orientation, independently of the closure of the manor house. The old Protestant church of Budimír is located in the historic park. It dates from the end of the 18th century and was originally the crypt of the Protestant Ujházy family branch. Information boards about the history of the municipality stand nearby. Another religious landmark is the Roman Catholic Church of Budimír, which dates from the 15th century and was remodeled in the Neo-Classical style in the 20th century.
