Kechnec combines local tradition, listed architecture, a versatile sports centre and the large body of water known as Štrkovisko Kechnec. There is also a railway station as a practical point of reference for arriving in the area.

Cultural monuments and local tradition

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is one of the prominent historical landmarks in Kechnec. It is a Baroque church built in 1740; its Baroque tower dome was completed in 1754. The two dates reflect a clearly identifiable historical development of the building and make it interesting for travellers who wish to combine sacred architecture with regional history.

Another distinctive feature is the Kúria in Kechnec. It is a national cultural monument and is registered under number 10086/0 in the Central List of the Monument Fund. Alongside the church, this provides a second historical landmark in the village, complementing its cultural orientation. The recurring Kechnecké dni celebrations honour community, sports and culture. Local tradition thus adds its own accent alongside the permanently existing buildings.

Sports centre and event venue

The sports centre in Kechnec includes a sauna, a whirlpool and two courts with artificial Terragreen surfaces. This range of facilities caters to different forms of leisure: in addition to the two courts, the sauna and whirlpool are also part of the centre's documented facilities. The Kechnec amphitheatre is also part of the local infrastructure. The venue has a capacity of approximately 2,000 people.

Štrkovisko Kechnec near the Slovak-Hungarian border

The landscape around Kechnec is complemented by the pronounced body of water known as Štrkovisko Kechnec. Štrkovisko is located near the municipality of Kechnec, close to the Slovak-Hungarian border. Its water surface covers approximately 250 hectares, making it an independent focal point alongside the cultural and sporting attractions of the village.

For anglers, the legal classification of the body of water is particularly important: Štrkovisko Kechnec is included in the fishing regulations for holders of association carp permits. This provision describes the documented framework for fishing and should be taken into account when making a corresponding travel decision. It should not be equated with a general statement about access or with a current programme of events.
