Nature among Waterfalls, Wetlands and Rocks

The Predajnianske Waterfalls are among the most striking natural sites. This 11.70-hectare natural monument protects cascade waterfalls, rock fields and preserved plant and animal communities of the submontane zone. A marked trail leads to the waterfalls in the Predajnianske Čelno valley.

Predajnianska slatina is an 11.35-hectare nature reserve protecting wetland communities with protected and endangered plant and animal species. Jajkovská sutina covers 50.91 hectares and preserves naturally formed rock scree slopes in the Slovak Ore Mountains. An unusual feature within the Predajnianske Waterfalls protected area is Kelemenov tunel, a technical monument considered the only tunnel in Central Europe located on a forest road.

The broader landscape areas are also important for context: part of the northern outskirts of Predajná lies in the protected zone of the Low Tatras National Park, while the southern part lies in the protected zone of the Poľana Protected Landscape Area.

Church, Calvary and the Watermill

The present-day church in Predajná was built between 1605 and 1612 in the late Gothic style. The Predajná Calvary was also established on Hrádok Hill, with a church and four chapels; the church and chapels were consecrated in 1873. On 15 September, the Calvary becomes the venue for the parish's largest indulgence festival. Pilgrims from the surrounding parishes attend this celebration.

Another important cultural and historical site is the Predajná watermill with its millrace on Bečov Street. It is a national cultural monument and features technical mill equipment that is particularly rare in Slovakia because it has been preserved in its entirety. Thus, alongside religious architecture, Predajná also highlights a testimony to traditional technology.

Special Events and Travel Information

The Klub biatlonu Predajná organises biathlon sporting events at the Šimáň shooting range in Predajná. Another local tradition is the regular ascent of Hrb, which has been maintained since the 1950s and developed into a larger public event at the end of the 1990s. If you choose Predajná according to the season or occasion, nature observation, cultural history, a religious celebration, a sporting event and an established mountain tradition therefore differ clearly from one another.
