The Vojšín Nature Trail connects the Starohutský vodopád National Monument in the cadastral area of Nová Baňa with the Andezitové kamenné more National Nature Monument in the cadastral area of Malá Lehota. The route can be walked in both directions, is 10.5 kilometers long and is described as moderately demanding. Along the way, there are eight information boards or stops.
The Andezitové kamenné more National Nature Monument was designated in 1975. It covers 1.4 hectares and is located in the cadastral area of the municipality of Malá Lehota in the Žarnovica District in the Tribeč Mountains. Its characteristic structure was formed by the disintegration of a lava flow into column-like fragments. There is also an observation point with a privacy screen at Andezitové kamenné more. A bus shelter designed in the same style adjoins it. Both elements are part of the specific orientation at this natural monument, without any further facilities or services being implied.
Cave with seasonal restrictions
The natural features of Malá Lehota also include the Jazvinská Cave, which is also called Debnárova Cave. It is located near the settlement of Debnárov štál in the municipality of Malá Lehota in the Tribeč Mountains and extends horizontally for 44 meters through a limestone massif. The cave serves as a wintering site for bats and is therefore closed from the end of October to March. This period is particularly important when determining the seasonal timing of a visit.
Štále and sacred buildings
Malá Lehota is one of three rural municipalities in the dispersed settlement area of Nová Baňa. The remote settlement areas are called “štále.” You will also encounter this designation among the local cultural monuments. The Neoclassical Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built in 1820 in Štál Domčeky. Its old nave has a barrel vault.
A masonry wayside chapel built around 1955 stands between Štál Adamcovým and Štál Udičkovým. A monument in the local cemetery commemorates the victims of the First and Second World Wars; it was erected in 1946. Together with the church, these places do not form an interchangeable list of sights, but instead point to the municipality’s different settlement areas and documented history.
Bagpipe music and special event days
Gajdošské fašiangy is considered the oldest bagpipe festival in Slovakia and takes place in Malá Lehota, Veľká Lehota and Jedľové Kostoľany. Malá Lehota also hosts an international gathering of bagpipe players and bagpipe music known as the “Bagpipes Carnival.” It begins on the last Friday before Ash Wednesday. Another regularly held event is the ZETOR 25 CUP, featuring races of historic Zetor 25 tractors. These events add a cultural and local accent alongside the municipality’s natural destinations and architectural heritage.
