Husiná combines a clearly defined valley setting with historical traces, sacred architecture and a marked hiking trail. If you would like to get to know a Slovak village not merely as a place to stay overnight, but through its landscape, history and specific destinations, Husiná offers several different points of connection. The village lies in the valley of a left-bank tributary of the Suchá. This setting provides the landscape framework for finding your way around the area and for the route to Konrádovce.

History and Symbols of Husiná

Husiná, its church and its parish are first mentioned in 1332. The village’s long-documented history is also reflected in its historical symbols. The oldest known seal of Husiná dates from 1758. The seal shows a ploughshare positioned vertically, with its point facing downward. The coat of arms takes up the agricultural motif in a different form: On a silver shield lies a silver goose with a golden beak and golden feet on a black plough. Comparing the seal and the coat of arms shows how a local symbol can appear in different representations.

The architectural traces include the Classicist Kúria in Husiná, which dates from the early 19th century. It adds a later chapter to the village’s medieval history, first documented in written records. When visiting, you should regard the Kúria as a historic part of Husiná; this does not imply anything about its current accessibility.

The Church on the Northeastern Edge of the Village

A particularly prominent landmark is the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, Kostol Navštívenia Panny Márie. It was built in the Classicist style in 1787, restored after 1890 and extended in 1922. The church is located on the northeastern edge of Husiná, almost outside the village, on a slight rise. Its location clearly distinguishes it from a building in the compact village center and helps you spatially identify the northeastern edge of the village. Its construction, restoration and extension represent three different phases of its history.

Hiking Trail to Konrádovce

For active excursions, the Husiná–Konrádovce hiking trail is the most precisely described connection. It leads from Husiná via Nad Čentou and Vadkert to Konrádovce. After 3.5 km, the trail crosses Cesta Márie Széchy. This specific landmark is more helpful for understanding the route than a general description of the surrounding area. The hiking trail is managed by KST under route number 8490. This means that both the named intermediate points and an official route number are available to help you orient yourself on the map.

Cultural Connections Beyond Husiná

Another connection to the village’s history can be found at the Gemerské múzeum in Rimavská Sobota. The cold weapons section displays a late Romanesque sword from Husiná. A visit to the museum broadens the view of the village with a specific object preserved outside Husiná. The landscape around Husiná also has a cultural dimension: It inspired the later works of an artist mentioned there. Thus, architectural evidence, historical symbols, a hiking trail and a preserved museum object stand side by side in and around the village.
