Dunajský Klátov – Mill, River Landscape and Cycle Paths

Dunajský Klátov combines traces of cultural history with a water-shaped landscape and several opportunities to explore the surrounding area by bicycle. The focal point is the watermill on the Klátovské rameno, a right-bank tributary of the Little Danube. Watermill and Local History

The Dunajský Klátov watermill is a cultural and technical monument on the banks of the Klátovské rameno of the Little Danube. It is one of the sites of the Žitnoostrovské Museum. The mill houses a permanent exhibition about milling, featuring original equipment. This means that the focus is not only on the building itself, but also on the technology and working world associated with traditional mill operation.

The history of the village also includes the reconstruction of the watermill in 2016. As part of this work, an observation platform was built on the opposite bank of the Klátovské rameno. The chapel of the “Nativity of the Virgin Mary” was built in 1927 and is the oldest building in Dunajský Klátov. Section VII/2 of the Malé Dvorníky–Dunajský Klátov cycle path is 6.1 km long. The developed section runs from the centre of Malé Dvorníky to the cadastral boundary of Dunajský Klátov. From there, the signposted cycle route continues on a lower-category road into the municipality of Dunajský Klátov.

A longer option is the main cycle route IX, which is 14 km long. It runs from Kútniky via Trhová Hradská, Horné Mýto and Ohrady Ostrov to Dunajský Klátov. The stated route lengths help you determine the focus of your planning: Section VII/2 is shorter, while main cycle route IX connects several villages.
