Discover Partizánske

Partizánske combines the clearly recognizable urban concept of the Baťa era with older religious and aristocratic sites, cultural institutions and diverse leisure activities. For your travel decision, the contrast between the planned industrial city, historic sites in Šimonovany and active experiences within the city is particularly interesting.

Baťa City and Living Urban History

The Baťa architecture in Partizánske was created by the Baťa company according to the philosophy of the “Ideal Industrial City”. The Baťa-style urban design is still visible today in factory buildings, a community hall, residential buildings and a church. SNP Square is also part of this urban history: it was laid out at the end of the 1930s according to the development plan for Baťovany.

The Baťa Point provides an illustrative addition. The information centre is located in a Baťa workers’ house on Červená Street. There, visitors can view the rooms of a Baťa workers’ house. Baťa Point also organizes city tours. This makes it possible to examine the city’s development not only through individual buildings, but also through the connection between living, working and public life.

Water Castle and Church in Šimonovany

Vodný hrad Water Castle is located in Šimonovany, a district of Partizánske. In Slovakia, it is one of the oldest surviving Gothic-Renaissance aristocratic residences in the category of fortified manor houses. The water castle includes an adjacent landscaped park. The opening of the water castle to the public was made possible from May 2016; no further current access regulations are described here.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is also located in Šimonovany. It is the oldest Roman Catholic church in the territory of Partizánske and at the same time a national cultural monument. The district therefore offers its own historical focus, clearly distinct from the newer Baťa City.

Museum, Observatory and 3D Cinema

The Partizánske City Museum collects, preserves, processes and scientifically catalogues objects documenting the history of Partizánske and the surrounding region. Its programme includes exhibitions, discussions, lectures and publications. Those who want to get to know the place through its history will therefore find more here than simply a tour of buildings.

The Partizánske Observatory is open to the public for observations of the night and daytime skies. Since 2012, it has had a mobile digital planetarium. In addition, there is a lecture hall equipped with audiovisual technology for seminars and educational programmes for the general public. The Panoramic 3D Cinema Partizánske shows Slovak premieres as well as international and domestic films in 3D.

Water, Cycling Route and Ice Sports

Dúha Outdoor Swimming Pool includes a large swimming pool, a children’s paddling pool, a sitting and relaxation pool, and a pool with attractions. There is also a water slide, a children’s slide, a beach volleyball court, game tables and a barefoot trail. For a cycling tour, the Cyklotrasa mesta Partizánske – I. etapa cycling route begins in the built-up area of Partizánske and follows the paved protective embankment of the Nitra to Malé Bielice.

A sporting option is also documented for winter: the Zimný štadión Partizánske ice sports complex can be used by individuals and organized groups by prior arrangement. The range of activities in Partizánske therefore extends from urban history and culture to water, cycling and ice experiences, without these offerings having to be grouped into a single season.
