Ľubotice: Church, Manor House and Cultural Monuments

Ľubotice combines a clearly recognizable village structure with religious buildings, historic buildings and traces of settlement dating far back into the past. Since the first half of the 13th century, the settlement developed as a linear village following the stream. Its main street runs parallel to the Ľubotický potok. This gives you a villagescape in which history can be read not only in individual monuments but also in the original layout of the village.

Religious Buildings and Historical Traces

One of the prominent buildings is the Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. It was built in 1806 in the Baroque-Classical style; its last renovation and extension took place in 1993. The church has six stained-glass windows: three each on the south and north sides. They were created based on a design by the academic painter Ladislav Záborský. This detail also makes the church building interesting for visitors who pay attention to architecture and furnishings when travelling through Slovakia.

Finds from the Early Neolithic period have been discovered in the Šarišské Lúky locality. They are dated to the period from 5000 to 3800 BC and add a very early trace of settlement to the historical picture of Ľubotice. The former synagogue from 1833 also stands in Šarišské Lúky. It is registered as a cultural monument under number 383 and has served as the Greek Catholic Church of the Holy Prophet Isaiah since 1997. The designation as a former synagogue and its present use should be considered together when classifying this building.

Manor House and Waterworks

The manor house of Ľubotice originally dates from the early 17th century and was originally a late Renaissance building. It is privately owned. The estate includes an interesting garden and is located at a distance from the municipality’s detached houses.

The building of the municipal waterworks also has particular heritage significance. It is a national cultural monument in the Historicist style. Underground pipes and shafts have been preserved in the building. The structure is privately owned. The combination of a Historicist cultural monument and preserved technical installations distinguishes this site from the religious buildings in Ľubotice.

Departures of city transport lines are published for the Ľubotice stop. In addition, the regional transport directory lists “Ľubotice, Dopravný podnik” as a stop. If you are planning your journey or choosing accommodation, you should consider these two details separately and check the specific connection for your travel day.

The PWG Sokol Ľubotice sports facility has been open to the public since 1 April 2026. Initially, opening hours are from 8:00 to 19:00; from May, opening hours will be until 20:00 in accordance with the operating regulations.
