Tesáre: Reservoir, Nature and Cultural Heritage

Tesáre combines protected landscapes, water-based activities and a clearly recognizable historical heritage. Protected Nature and the Priehrada Tesáre Reservoir

The Natura 2000 site SKUEV0135 Bočina lies within the cadastral territories of the municipalities of Tesáre and Závada and covers a total of 45.18 ha. Its protected features include willow-poplar-alder floodplain forests and stands of common juniper. Tesáre therefore offers not merely a generally described natural landscape, but an area with expressly identified habitats and plant communities.

Another protected site is Tesársky park. The protected area covers 1.96 ha and has protection level 3. This natural area is complemented by the Priehrada Tesáre Reservoir. It is a reservoir on the Zľavský potok at river kilometre 9.700, a category 3 water-management structure, and borders the northern edge of Tesáre’s built-up area. Its precise location makes the reservoir a defining element of the village landscape.

Water, Spring and Cycling Routes

The reservoir is used for fishing, swimming and water sports. At the same time, more intensive recreational use presupposes suitable water-quality values and health safety. For active days, marked cycling routes towards the Považský Inovec mountains add to the local options; they pass through the cadastral territory of Tesáre.

Kokošová Manor House and Historic Park

Kokošová Manor House stands southwest of Tesáre on elevated ground in a park on the edge of the village. The complex includes a Baroque chapel from 1772 dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk. The origins of the manor house, also called Kaštieľ rodiny Lenárt, date back to the 17th century. After 1770, it was rebuilt in the Baroque-Classical style.

The historic park next to the manor house is particularly valuable for its landscape design, preserved composition and dendrological structure. Kokošová can therefore be viewed not merely as an individual architectural monument, but as an interplay of the building, chapel and historic park. This creates a different focus from the reservoir: instead of water and recreational use, the emphasis here is on architectural history, park design and the location on the edge of the village.

Tesárske Vinobranie is part of the cultural calendar. The 19th Tesárske Vinobranie took place on 16 September 2023; the 22nd Tesárske Vinobranie was announced for 5 September 2026. Both details are clearly tied to specific dates and primarily serve to demonstrate Tesáre’s local connection to events, rather than making a general statement about a current event date.
