Prasice combines the forests of the Považský Inovec with the Duchonka recreational area and a number of historic sites. This makes the municipality suitable for a trip to Slovakia in which you would like to combine nature, water and culture. The northern part of Prašice in particular is covered by the forests of the Považský Inovec. Accommodation in Prasice may therefore be interesting if you want to focus your stay on both landscape experiences and sightseeing.

Duchonka: Reservoir, Sandy Beach and Water Sports

North of Prašice lies the Duchonka recreational area in a birch grove near a 17-hectare reservoir. Boating and surfing are possible on the reservoir. The recreational centre also includes a sandy beach on the western shore. Those who want to combine a stay by the water with a wooded setting when planning their trip will find a clear thematic focus here. The size of the reservoir and the various activities mentioned can be taken into account when planning your day without limiting your stay to a single activity.

Historic Sites in and near Prašice

The local history also offers specific destinations. The Roman Catholic Church of Kostol sv. Jakuba was originally built in the Gothic style and redesigned in the Baroque style between 1758 and 1760. Inside, the Neoclassical main altar is noteworthy; it dates from the end of the 18th century. One of the church bells dates from 1800. For visitors interested in culture, this provides insight into various historical periods of design within a single ecclesiastical building.

The chapel of Kaplnka Sedembolestnej Panny Márie, built around 1820, stands in the cemetery of Prašice. Masses for the dead are held in the chapel. Another destination is the Lovecký zámok – kaštieľ near Duchonka. The small, single-storey building with a mansard roof was built in 1930–1931 and designed in the style of old German hunting lodges. The interior is not open to the public; the exterior and surrounding area can be visited. This restriction is part of the practical information and helps you plan your visit realistically.
