Vlachy: Renaissance Heritage and Cycling Routes

Vlachy combines Renaissance heritage, village buildings, and clearly described cycling routes. This makes the village suitable for a trip to Slovakia in which you would like to experience culture in connection with the landscape and outdoor activity rather than in isolation. The historical traces range from a manor house and links to old crafts to bell towers in several parts of the village; there are also two routes with different characteristics.

Renaissance Manor House and Village History

A central historical landmark is Kaštieľ Vlachy, a two-storey Renaissance manor house dating from the 16th century. Its interiors feature Renaissance and Baroque vaults. This makes the building interesting not only because of its age, but also because of its architectural character. Of the manor house’s former farm buildings, only the granary has survived. The historical context is therefore visible in a single preserved outbuilding, while the manor house itself remains the architectural centerpiece. The village landscape also includes smaller, independent examples of its architectural and everyday history. The bell tower in Vlachy has masonry foundations and a wooden upper section. It was also used as a fire station. In Vlašky stands the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, which was consecrated on October 12, 1991. Cycling Between Village, Route, and Reservoir

For active exploration, the green cycling route 5467 begins in Vlachy. It connects with Route 035, the Liptovská cyklomagistrála. Route 5467 – Vlachy–Ľubeľa–Hrachovisko–Liptovská CM – is designated as a green, easy MTB leisure route and is 6.9 km long. Its designation and stated length provide clear guidance for anyone looking for a short route explicitly described as easy. A different perspective is offered by the route “Keltská výprava s deťmi na kolesách”. It leads through the village of Vlachy to the dam, along the reservoir and past the harbor to a white church directly on the water. Compared with Route 5467, the focus here is not only on connecting several places, but on a route featuring prominent landscape points: the village, dam, body of water, harbor, and church form the documented sequence.
