Dudince between Healing Springs and Landscapes

If you would like to discover a place in Slovakia with a strong mineral water tradition and unusual natural features, Dudince offers several different points of interest. The mineral waters of Dudince were first officially mentioned in writing in 1777; at that time, they were referred to as warm healing springs called Gyogy. This historical designation is part of the town’s distinctive background, while today’s excursion destinations combine water, landscapes and special sights.

Baths with Different Focuses

The Rubín Spa House has a 34 °C warm mineral water sitting pool. The mineral pool at the Rubín Spa House is also open to the public on Sundays. This documents a specific visiting time without implying general opening hours.

Dudinka Summer Bath is a summer family complex with four pools and water attractions. The facilities mentioned include a water slide, a family slide, a water channel with jets and a children’s area. The summer bath also has a 33 to 34 °C warm sitting pool with Dudince healing water. The individual offerings therefore differ between water attractions for the summer complex and warm mineral water in the sitting pool.

Paths, Travertine and Unusual Sights

The Lišovská trasa leads from Dudince along the forest and is part of the landscape of the Zlatá cesta in historic Hont. This landscape includes natural and cultural heritage sites. The route therefore gives you access to an area where the natural environment and traditional cultural landscape are mentioned together, without limiting the path to a single type of sightseeing.

A separate landscape feature is the Travertínová terasa. It covers 1,433 m² on the banks of the Štiavnica and has several sites with active travertine formation under relatively natural conditions. The Rímske kúpele, also called Močidlá, are an extensive spring mound with a flat surface. Thirty-two square and rectangular pits have been carved into this surface. Both places illustrate how closely the local description is connected with springs and mineral deposits.

The notable architectural and townscape features also include the sight known as the “leaning tower.” Due to its unusual inclination, it continues to serve as a tourist attraction and is tilted 51 centimetres out of plumb. For sightseeing in the town, it therefore provides a distinctly different accent from the baths and spring areas.

Getting Around Locally and Travelling to the Spa House

The Dudince Tourist Information Centre rents electric bicycles, bicycles and scooters. If you do not want to limit your local travel to a single means of transport, several documented rental options are therefore available. To travel to the spa house, Kúpele Dudince can take guests directly from the railway station or a bus stop to the spa house. The prerequisite is that the transfer is registered at the reception of the respective spa house at least one day in advance.
