Accommodation in Bzovská Lehôtka
Bzovská Lehôtka combines a distinctive landscape with traces of a local history shaped by shepherds. The municipality lies in the southern part of the Pliešovce Basin. Its territory includes rolling hills, the flat valley of the Krupinica and the northern slope of the Krupinská výšina. This creates a destination where landscape, regional history and individual outdoor opportunities lie closely alongside one another, without reducing the locality to just one attraction.
Landscape between the basin, valley and ridge
The location in the Pliešovce Basin explains Bzovská Lehôtka’s distinctive spatial character: the municipality includes both the flat valley of the Krupinica and hilly areas, as well as the northern slope of the Krupinská výšina. These different landscape forms can be taken into account when choosing where to visit, just as you can consider whether you are more interested in cultural and historical impressions or an outdoor route. The landscape is not defined by a single striking formation, but by the interplay of the valley, slopes and basin setting.
Local history and visible evidence
Bzovská Lehôtka was probably established in the 14th century and founded by shepherds from Bzovík Abbey. The connection with shepherding remained influential later as well: the inhabitants were primarily engaged in livestock farming or shepherding. A specific testimony to this history is an order from 1504. It prohibited the subjects of Bzovská Lehôtka from driving livestock onto the pastures of Krupina. Other distinctive features of the locality include the carved, polychrome wooden crosses in the cemetery. They are made of beech or oak wood. The Chapel of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary is also part of the local architectural and cultural history. It is a single-nave building with a projecting tower and a Prussian vault. Those looking for smaller, locally specific cultural landmarks in Bzovská Lehôtka will therefore find various forms here: historical tradition, artisan-crafted crosses and sacred architecture.
Trout fishing area and cycling route
When planning a stay, you can also take the course of the Krupinica No. 3 trout fishing area into account. It extends from the road bridgehead in the Krupina–Vlčok locality to the road bridge near Bzovská Lehôtka. This precise boundary describes a specific section of the Krupinica; it should not be equated with a general statement about other water-based opportunities or current usage conditions.
A second way to actively experience the surroundings is Route 011 Hontianska cyklomagistrála. The paved road cycling route is 50.8 km long and rated as moderately difficult. It runs from Krupina via Bzovská Lehôtka towards Sása. The route is therefore characterised both by its surface and length and by its direction. This gives you a clear choice between a stay focused on local history and landscape and a longer, moderately difficult cycling tour through several localities.
