Vyškovce Nad Ipľom: Culture on the Ipeľ

Vyškovce nad Ipľom is a place whose character is revealed particularly through its churches, historic buildings and connection to the water. This creates a travel destination with several clearly distinguishable themes: sacred architectural history, local traditions, a water reservoir where fishing may be possible, and activities around the Ipeľ River. Churches, Manor House and Traditional History

A central cultural and historical landmark is the Baroque Church of St Margaret of Antioch. It dates from 1700 and was built using the remains of a Gothic church from the early 14th century. Its present structure therefore refers not only to the Baroque period but also to a considerably older local architectural history. The Chapel of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary, dating from 1850, is also included on the local cultural heritage list.

The manor house is also one of the prominent historic buildings in Vyškovce nad Ipľom. It was originally a late Renaissance building constructed at the end of the 17th century. The municipal office and registry office are located in the manor house. A permanent exhibition in Vyškovce nad Ipľom is dedicated to presenting and collecting cultural and historical monuments, as well as the heritage of the municipality and its surroundings.

Further references to the past remain explicitly associated with their respective classifications. Vyškovce nad Ipľom Castle may have been built between 1303 and 1312. According to local history, the VIII Army from Pannonia was stationed on the summit of what is now Mahér; excavations carried out there are cited as confirmation of this.
