Vyhne between Thermal Water, Nature and Mining History

Vyhne combines a variety of experiences within a compact thematic area: At Vodný raj Vyhne, natural thermal water takes center stage, while the Andrej Kmeť educational trail, the Kamenné more nature reserve and historic buildings reveal other sides of the town. For your travel decision, this means a choice between activity, water experiences, landscapes and culture, without limiting Vyhne to just one theme.

Educational Trail and Pump Track for Active Days

The Andrej Kmeť educational trail is a short, self-guided circular hiking trail that can be used in summer and winter. It is 4.9 km long and has an elevation difference of 44 m. The trail begins at the Vyhniansky travertín natural monument near the outdoor swimming pool and volleyball courts and ends at the SAD ZŤS Vyhne bus stop. Its route is therefore defined by a specific starting point and endpoint; at the same time, the trail description remains focused on an independent loop.

The Vyhne pump track offers a different form of activity. It consists of artificially created terrain waves and banked turns where riders can practise riding over such obstacles. The pump track is located near Hotel Sitno and the football field. Anyone who would like to ride there is welcome. This makes it suitable for visitors who, in addition to a circular trail, would like to try a sports facility focused on riding technique.

Thermal Water and Leisure Activities

At Vodný raj Vyhne, the multifunctional pool is supplied with natural thermal water. At the source, the water reaches 36.5 to 37 °C. The complex also has a year-round outdoor pool with hydromassage benches, so-called pearl baths, a counter-current system and a Jacuzzi; the water temperature there is 36 °C.

Vodný raj Vyhne also offers tennis, volleyball and squash courts, as well as bowling and mini-golf. This allows water experiences to be combined with various leisure activities without changing locations.

Nature and History in Vyhne

Kamenné more is a nature reserve in Vyhne and is considered a Central European rarity. It provides a landscape counterpoint to the thermal facilities. The Roman Catholic Baroque Church of St. Michael dates from 1776. Directly above Vodný raj Vyhne is the spa chapel of Panny Márie Kráľovnej, which once served spa guests. Its classification therefore belongs to the town’s historic spa heritage and should not be confused with a promise of current use.

The “Dve hodiny po banských dielach” circular trail also looks back into the past: At ten stations, it presents the history of mining and the effects of mining. Together with the Baroque church, the former spa chapel and the nature reserve, it creates a townscape in which natural surroundings, thermal traditions and regional history stand side by side.
