Trebeľovce: Protected Area, Church and Ipeľ
Accommodation in Trebeľovce
Trebeľovce can be explored through several clearly distinct themes: the Volavčia kolónia protected area, the Trebeľovce Láza fishing waters, the Kostol sv. Alžbety Uhorskej church and experiences on the Ipeľ. When planning your trip, the question is not only whether to focus on nature or culture. You can also decide whether to make a protected area, fishing-friendly banks, church architecture, a folklore festival or a river trip the focus of your visit.
Protected Area and Waters
The Volavčia kolónia protected area is located within the cadastral territory of Trebeľovce. It was designated in 1992 and covers 2.23 ha. The protected area extends across Mikušovce, Rapovce and Muľka. Its limited size and year of designation give the nature conservation topic a clear framework. This distinguishes it from the Trebeľovce Láza fishing waters, whose defining features are their layout and shoreline structure.
Trebeľovce Láza consists of two gravel pits measuring 2 ha and 1 ha, for a total of 3 ha. The larger pit is therefore twice the size of the smaller one. The waters are characterised by irregularly shaped banks; around 70 percent of the shoreline is overgrown, mostly with willows. If you want to fish here, check the applicable fishing regulations before doing so. The size and shoreline vegetation offer different points of reference for distinguishing between the two gravel pits.
Church and Architecture
A cultural landmark is Kostol sv. Alžbety Uhorskej, a subsidiary church built in 1896 in the neo-Gothic style. It has a single nave; the presbytery has a polygonal end, and the interior has a ribbed vault. These features describe both the basic layout and the design of the interior, offering those interested in architecture more than just a date. The latest available description says the church is in very good condition; it serves its religious purpose.
A Trip on the Ipeľ and Folklore
The Ipeľ River also features in local travel plans: a river trip reaches Trebeľovce and a landing place there, intended for recreation, enjoying the scenery and taking a rest. Another specific reference point is the 10 km Holiša–Kalonda route, considered the most popular trip on the Ipeľ. The information answers different questions: the first identifies a stop in Trebeľovce intended for recreation, while the second gives a route length and its popularity. Check the provider’s latest information before setting out, as route and service details may change.
The Trebeľovce Folklore Festival is also part of the cultural scene. Its 11th edition took place on 28 August 2022. The festival day featured folk customs, songs, dances and costumes; there was also a market for handicrafts. If you are travelling for a festival, check the dates for your travel period.
