Lipovec lies in the southeastern part of the Slovak Ore Mountains, between the Blh Valley and the valley of the Drienok stream. The village combines a landscape between two valleys with a long history and several opportunities to explore the surrounding area by bicycle or on foot. Those looking for a less urban starting point for their trip to Slovakia while combining nature, regional history, and cycling will find a range of options here.

Viewpoint on the Edge of the Village

A particularly clear point of reference is the Lipovec viewpoint on the edge of the village. A panoramic information board with descriptions helps put the view of the landscape into context. From the viewpoint, you can see Kráľova hoľa. The viewpoint can be reached by car or bicycle. Depending on your travel plans, it can therefore be included as the destination of a cycling tour or as an excursion by car.

The access route leads through Slizké via the blue cycling route No. 2564. Teplý Vrch is considered the recommended starting point for the route to the viewpoint. The Teplý Vrch–Potok–Slizké cycling route also passes through Lipovec. The 48-kilometre cycling route from Rimavská Sobota via Padarovce and Teplý Vrch to Lipovec also leads to the viewpoint. This information helps you choose between visiting the viewpoint and taking a longer cycling tour through the region; the routes remain clearly distinguished.

Hiking and Experiencing the Landscape

There are opportunities for hiking around Lipovec. Together with the viewpoint and the cycling connections described above, this provides a broader picture of the landscape: you can consider Lipovec as a destination for a single viewpoint visit or as part of a more active travel itinerary. The location between the Blh Valley and the valley of the Drienok stream shapes the village's geographical character. When planning your day, it is useful to decide in advance whether the focus should be on a cycling tour, a view, or a hike in the surrounding area.

Local History and Evangelical Church

Lipovec was first mentioned in writing in 1413. The local history also includes wax that was formerly sold and pressed into záboje, which have survived to this day. This tradition adds a historical detail from the village to the impression created by the landscape.

A notable cultural and historical destination is the Evangelical Church of Lipovec. It was built between 1788 and 1793. It has a wooden Protestant gallery on three sides. The organ, with its Rococo case from the late 18th century, also deserves attention. Those interested in church architecture, interior furnishings, and the history of Protestant communities can include this focus in their own travel plans.
