Kalonda: Palóc Culture and Nature on the Ipeľ

Kalonda lies at the transition between the Lučenec Basin and the Cerová vrchovina, on a terrace above the Ipeľ. The history of local technology is also tangible: in 1930, the Kalodianský vodný mlyn was owned by Samuel Bodor and powered by an undershot water wheel. On the quiet lower reaches of the Ipeľ, beginners can try out and rent an inflatable boat with electric propulsion for eight people by prior arrangement. The Ipeľ River can also be explored by canoe or raft. The route can begin at the border crossing beyond Kalonda.
