Čamovce – Nature, Geology and Culture in the Cerová vrchovina

Čamovce is located in the eastern part of the Cerová vrchovina in the valley of the Čamovský potok. Geology at the Čamovský kameňolom Quarry

The geology is particularly clear at the Čamovský kameňolom quarry. It exposes the full thickness of a basalt flow and is considered the most representative exposure of a lava flow in the Cerová vrchovina. River gravels of the Belina Beds are exposed in the immediate subsurface; beneath them lie cross-bedded sandstones of the Jalovské Beds. This makes it possible to trace different rock layers and their sequence at a named location.
