Pruské: Historic Park, Churches and Route 07

Pruské combines important historical evidence with a clearly described starting point for a hike. In the village, a Renaissance manor house, two churches, a protected collection of old yew trees and a nationally recognized cultural monument come together. At the same time, Route 07 to Červený Kameň begins here. Pruské can therefore be explored particularly through its cultural history and its transition to an active day tour.

Renaissance Manor House and Historic Park

The Renaissance manor house in Pruské was built at the end of the 16th century and is located in an extensive English-style park. Historic Park Pruské is a national cultural monument and covers 4.2 hectares. An important restriction must be noted for visitors: the manor house can currently only be viewed from the outside, as it is used as a school. The historic architecture can therefore be combined with the park area, but viewing the interior is not part of the current visit. The parish garden also preserves an unusual testimony to the village’s long history. Three common yew trees stand there, estimated to be 700 years old. The three trees are protected cultural monuments. The age specification explicitly remains an estimate; it is precisely this combination of documented age and protected status that makes the yews an independent cultural detail of Pruské.

Churches, Crypt and Baroque Furnishings

The early Baroque Franciscan church and monastery in Pruské were built in 1642. The entrance portal of the Franciscan church also dates from the same year. Hugolín Gavlovič is buried in its crypt. A second notable stop is the Church of St. Peter and Paul, which was consecrated in 1780. Its furnishings include a main altar painting by F. A. Maulbertsch. The church also has an original Baroque organ with its case. It was made by the Slovak organ builder Juraj Pažický from Rajec. Route 07 from the Village Center

The documented Route 07 is ideal for combining culture and activity. It begins at a bus stop in the center of Pruské and leads via Vršatské Podhradie, Vršatec and Chmelová to Červený Kameň. Route 07 is moderately difficult and takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes. The precise route description therefore names both the starting point and the intermediate locations; the approximate duration is also important for your planning. In addition, a cycling route is 8.7 kilometers long and has 494 meters of elevation gain.
