Nová Lesná – Park, Churches and Route to Hrebienok

Nová Lesná reveals several sides of a journey in one place: a park in the centre, historic sacred and everyday buildings, a specifically described access route at the railway station, and a route to Hrebienok. In addition, from the entrance to Nová Lesná there is a view of several named landscape landmarks. This means the village can be explored not only through a single attraction, but through culture, mobility, routes, and landscape.

The park, the route, and the view from the village entrance

The Park of Mountain Guides is located in the centre of Nová Lesná. It includes a small pond and wooden sculptures of the older generation of mountain guides. The combination of the small body of water and the handcrafted figures gives this point of interest its own character and makes it a clearly recognisable part of the centre.

A different perspective is offered by the Nová Lesná–Hrebienok route. It is 9.37 km long, begins in Nová Lesná, and ends in Hrebienok. This clearly identifies the starting point, destination, and documented length. The information describes the route, but says nothing about its duration or difficulty. For your own travel planning, the route itself therefore remains the specific point of reference.

From the entrance to Nová Lesná, you can see, among others, Lomnický štít, Prostredný hrot, and Slavkovský štít. These three names give the village entrance a distinctly scenic dimension. The view complements the smaller scale of the park and historic buildings with a broad perspective, without requiring an additional route or a specific viewpoint.

Architectural history between the church and the Sypanec

The Roman Catholic Church – Zvestovania Pána is originally early Gothic and was built in the second half of the 13th century. Its historical classification reaches far back into the history of the village. It was also entered on 30 October 1963 in the central register of immovable cultural monuments of Slovakia under number 918. This register entry forms part of the documented history of the building and should be considered separately from current opening or visitor information.

The Evanielický a.v. kostol adds a second historic religious building. The building is Neoclassical and was constructed in 1792. Another aspect of the village’s history is represented by the preserved masonry barn known as the Sypanec. It dates from 1873. Together, these buildings show different forms and periods: the originally early Gothic church from the 13th century, the Neoclassical church building from 1792, and the masonry barn from the 19th century.
