Liptovská Teplicka

Liptovská Teplicka combines a distinctive cultural landscape with clearly distinguishable opportunities for hiking, winter activities, and regional history. Particularly characteristic are the historic terraced fields, which have been recognized as typical landscape features under the conditions of a mountain region. These are complemented by unusual evidence of rural life, museums, and trails ranging from a clearly defined educational trail to a high-mountain tour described as demanding.

Landscape and Trails Around Liptovská Teplička

For a manageable excursion, the Okolím Liptovskej Tepličky educational trail covers 6 km and has nine stations. The route thus offers a clearly defined path through the village and surrounding landscape. The route to Kráľova hoľa has a distinctly different character: it begins and ends at the bus stop and car park in Liptovská Teplička. The tour is considered a moderately difficult high-mountain tour with a comparatively long and strenuous ascent. Those looking for a longer mountain tour will therefore find a different level of challenge here than on the 6 km educational trail.

The SKI PARK Liptovská Teplička is also part of the local range of recreational activities. It has three lifts, including a school lift and a children's lift. The car park is located directly next to the lifts. This specific arrangement makes a visit to the lifts distinctly different from the signposted hiking and mountain trails.

Rural Heritage and Regional History

Among the most striking features are the Zemiakové pivnice, potato cellars dug vertically into the ground. They are approximately 2.5 to 3 meters deep. In Liptovská Teplicka, 419 of these cellars have been preserved; they are still used to store potatoes. The Stodolište also contains 117 barns, which the municipality uses for exhibitions during local events.

Another historic landmark is the Roman Catholic Church of Kostol sv. Jána Krstiteľa. It was built in the Baroque style and consecrated in 1759. Local commemorative culture is also reflected in the Americký kríž. According to the accounts of the oldest residents, the inhabitants of Liptovská Teplička erected this cross as a sign of gratitude after returning safely from America. The Pod Kráľovou hoľou folklore celebrations began in 1996 as a celebration of the anniversary of the municipality's first written mention.

Museums and Sightseeing

The Teplická izba Museum is dedicated to the traditional crafts of the municipality and supplements this exhibition with a collection of photographs. The house of Mons. Štefan Náhalka contains a memorial room for this important native of the municipality, as well as an exhibition on traditional rural domestic culture in Liptovská Teplička. Visits to Teplická izba and the house of Mons. Štefan Náhalka can each be arranged at least 24 hours in advance by telephone or in person at the Liptovská Teplička municipal office.

The Cesty predkov Museum offers another historical perspective. It was established in 2023 after the renovation of the former fire station equipment building and deals with emigration to Ukraine and Hungary. The village's cultural range thus extends from crafts and domestic culture through religious history to migration history. Depending on whether you place hiking, lift operations, the terraced landscape, or the museums at the center of your visit, the trip can be structured in different ways.
