Location and character

Lozorno lies near the western slopes of the Little Carpathians, in the southern lowlands of Záhorie. This gives the area two geographical features: the edge of the mountains and the lowland landscape. For travel planning, this provides a clear setting distinct from the local attractions. These include a parish church, a Baroque chapel, a monument and a museum of historic vehicles near the reservoir; a cycling route also passes through Lozorno. You can therefore consider the town both in terms of its landscape and its cultural history and cycling.

Churches, a monument and local history

The parish church in Lozorno was consecrated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria on November 24, 1630. The Baroque chapel of Saint Vendelín dates from 1729. The two dates are 99 years apart and mark different things: the consecration of the church and the year the chapel was built. With its explicitly Baroque design, the chapel makes its own architectural statement. A monument near the church adds a reminder of the First World War to the story of the town. It commemorates 60 soldiers from Lozorno who fell in the war. The buildings and monument thus offer different ways of connecting with the past: religious dedication, architecture and local remembrance.

Vehicle museum by the reservoir

The Museum of Historic Vehicles is located by the Lozorno reservoir. It houses several fully restored cars and dozens of motorcycles from the same period. The collection offers a different focus from the religious buildings, with historic vehicles taking center stage. The museum is open to the public during veteran car gatherings and exchanges. If you would like to include it in your trip, plan around one of these events and check the specific dates. This lets you coordinate your museum visit with a suitable event.

Cycling route and hiking

For a cycling trip, the Malokarpatská cyklomagistrála is a specific point of interest: it passes through Lozorno between Plavecký Peter and Zohor. Unlike the cultural and historical sites, each of which has its own focus, here the route itself takes center stage. Lozorno can therefore be considered both for its individual cultural attractions and as a town on a named cycling route. Check current route conditions before setting off.

The Lozorský okruh hiking event offers another way to explore the area actively. A 2026 report stated that the Klub lozorských turistov was preparing its 19th edition. This distinguishes the event from the Malokarpatská cyklomagistrála: the Lozorský okruh centers on a particular edition, while the cycling route is a trail that passes through Lozorno. If you want to plan specifically for the Lozorský okruh, check the date of the relevant edition.

Getting there and finding accommodation

Getting there is also a factor when choosing where to stay: Lozorno is accessible via an exit on the D2 motorway between Bratislava, Kúty and Prague. If your trip to Slovakia includes this road connection, you could consider Lozorno as a base. Its location on the D2 answers a different question from the local sights and activities: it gives you an idea of road access, while cultural history, the vehicle museum and cycling shape the focus of your stay. When looking for a hotel in Lozorno, you can take both aspects of your plans into account and choose the town based on what matters most for your trip.
