Historic town center beneath the Kremnica Mountains

Slaská lies below the Kremnica Mountains and combines a clearly recognizable historic townscape with several marked hiking connections. The center is formed by a square of the extended street type, oriented in a north-south direction. For your orientation, the location in the valley area is also important: From Slaská, access routes lead both north and south to Kremnica and other municipalities in the valley of the Kremnický potok. The cadastral area ranges from 375 to 641 meters above sea level.

The Church of Saint Gallus and the historic townscape

The most prominent cultural landmark is the Roman Catholic Church of Saint Gallus with its fortification. It is registered as an immovable national cultural monument under number 1264/1 in the central heritage register; its Renaissance character dates from the end of the 15th century. The church tower, baptismal font and church fortification date from 1654. The church stands in the southwest of Slaská on a slight elevation and continues to be used for its religious purpose. In the townscape, the church dominates from a hill above Slaská; the former rectory is located below it.

Further small monuments complement this focal point. A chapel stands northeast above Slaská. The cemetery contains around 20 cast-iron crosses; there is also a wooden cross at house number 57 and a masonry wayside shrine in the village. These scattered details make the townscape more finely articulated than a single attraction: They point to various forms of religious and artisanal design.

Architectural details away from the church

The historic building stock includes connected two-story granaries on parcels 422, 423, 433 and 434, as well as a freestanding two-story granary on parcel 15. House number 162 has a decorative strip with carved wing-like elements on its northern wooden gable. The two-story house numbers 180–181 displays features of a German stone house; the southern section has stucco elements. The group of houses numbered 190, 191, 192, 193 and 198 features further artisanal and architectural details, including gables, decorative elements, façade articulation, a niche and distinctive window forms.
