Slovakian ski resorts in Slovakia are becoming closer for the British. Czech Airlines opens direct flight between the capital of the High Tatras ski area and London for the winter season.
The flights are available on Tuesdays and Sundays. It will be organized by the ÄŒSA department - Holidays Czech Airlines. Within two years the company plans to completely renovate the passenger air traffic of the British capital and Poprad.
ÄŒSA came in Poprad instead of the bankrupted Slovak budget airline Sky Europe. In the past this airline provided for a significant part of the passenger traffic from the Slovakian cities.
The opening of the Poprad-London flight was held with the direct participation of the Municipality of Poprad, which allocated ÄŒSA 50 000 Euros to organize a new flight.
But the European Commission has raised a number of questions about the transparency of this procedure. Currently in the EU are strict laws on passenger flights, which clearly regulate the procedure of financing airlines by governmental organizations. Thus, the funds allocated by the municipal authorities, cannot be spent to pay for the fuel.
Anyway, now ÄŒSA proved the validity of financial support from the Municipality of Poprad. As a result, starting from November the airline will organize flights between Poprad and London twice a week.
At present in addition to Poprad Czech Airlines also organize flights to other cities in Slovakia, including Bratislava, Kosice and Zilina.
Currently ÄŒSA airline is one of the key players in the Slovak passenger air traffic market, along with other well-known European airline Ryanair. In 2011 Czech Airlines chose the Bratislava airport as a hub.
