French car concern PSA Peugeot Citroen suspends production of its cars at the plant in the Slovakian town of Trnava. As noted by the number of Slovak media, according to a representative of the plant Ivan Pavelkov, it is connected with reduction of offers for the company's products.
In total, the conveyor of the plant in Trnava will not work for 9 days. The first suspension is expected from October 28 to November 4, 2011. The second will last from 14 to 18 November 2011. It is noted that November 1 and November 17 in Slovakia are national holidays.
In October 2011 PSA Peugeot Citroen celebrated five years of work on the Slovak market. As noted by the representatives of the famous French car manufacturer, today Trnava plant is, perhaps, the most modern plant of all PSA Peugeot Citroen plants around the world. In 2010 the company produced 187 000 cars.
Anyway, innovative technologies that are applied at the Peugeot Slovakian factory, still not give positive effect in the fight against competitors. Against the background of a slight increase in sales of new cars in Europe, PSA Peugeot Citroen has reduced the volume of shipped products in 2011 by almost 13%.
It is worth noting that today in Slovakia are produced not only French cars, but German Volkswagen and Korean Kia. And for them Slovakia is becoming an increasingly important region. Thus Kia has recently announced transfer of production of its family car Kia Venga from the factory in the Czech Republic to the conveyor in Zilina. For PSA Peugeot Citroen it may become a kind of challenge, which the concern one way or another will have to respond in the near future.
