Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia, and, as well as it is necessary to the main city, its life dazzles with all manner of events. It is necessary to note at once, that the majority of actions is devoted to cultural development of the country. It's impossible to imagine the city without annual Bratislava musical holidays, Bratislava jazz days, the organization of performances of opera and ballet of the Slovak national theatre, concerts of the Slovak philharmonic society and summer festivals of culture and art. More than ten years on end the International festival of a photo is held in Bratislava where representatives from both East and Central Europe take part. Significant holiday for all Slovakia is the Day of crowning. Usually it is celebrated on the first days off of September and has been spent since times when the emperors of Austria-Hungary were crowned in Bratislava. A fancy-dress procession which fills Old city, transfers us many centuries back. During more than 40 years in September-October the International musical festival of classical music is organized.
Having got to Bratislava at the end of November, it is possible to visit the annual Christmas fair which lasts all December long. Here in the celebratory atmosphere filled with fun it is possible to spend time remarkable, trying dishes of national kitchen. Also it is impossible to leave from here without a pair of souvenirs: products from leather, glass, ceramics, wood, a leaf of corn, beeswax.
