Bratislava Airport of Miroslav Stefanik (code IATA: BTS) is the oldest and most important air terminal in Slovakia. The airport is in half an hour from the center of Bratislava, near the village of Ivanka. Today it accounts for more than 60% of international passenger services in Slovakia. Passenger traffic of the Bratislava airport is about a half million people a year. The last five years the airport demonstrates a steady increase in passenger traffic. Currently there are eight gates serving international flights and one gate for internal transportation. In 2012 is planned to complete the construction of the new terminal, which will increase the capacity of Bratislava Airport up to five million people a year.
Bratislava Airport is «home» for the state airline Air Slovakia. Also in Bratislava Airport is based a budget airline Sky Europe. Among the foreign airlines that use the resources of the Bratislava airport are: Russian Aeroflot, Deutsch Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Air Ukraine, Czech airliners and others. Flights from Bratislava Airport are accomplished to 30 cities of the world, including London, Paris, Berlin, Prague, Barcelona and Croatian and Bulgarian resorts.
You can get to Bratislava Airport by taxi or bus. By the latter it will be cheaper, but longer. An average cost of taxi to the airport is 10 euro, and about fifteen minutes on the way.
The nearness of Bratislava and one of the most congested European airports, Vienna Schwechat has interested the owner of the airport of Vienna, "Two One" airline in Bratislava air terminal. Many airlines are already using Bratislava airport for transportation of the Austrian passengers.
